Summer Social Justice Camp (Addison County)

Join us for our day camp focused on social justice that’s facilitated by youth for youth!

Who: Students in Addison County (and surrounding areas) entering grades 7 - 12

When: 10am-3pm August 4-8

Where: The Teen Center Inc. (77 Mary Hogan Dr) in Middlebury

What: Youth will have the opportunity to learn about five topics relating to social justice through workshops, field trips, and prominent guest speakers. We will spend each day on a different topic. Examples of previous topics are LGBTQIA+ representation in media, disability rights, and gun violence. Attendees of the camp not only learn and discuss these issues, but they will also build skills to bring about change. There will also be games, art, food, and learning about each other through storytelling, and we will end the week with a peaceful protest. I hope that you will join us this August for this joyful, youth-led experience!

Why: It is powerful for youth to connect with peers who share their passion for social justice or who want to learn more about developing skills for advocacy and organizing. The camp will create a sense of solidarity and belonging that will carry on after the camp ends. We hope the camp is a stepping stone for young people to become lifelong advocates for equality and justice, and let us not forget the creative and fun aspects of the camp, incorporating art, music, and storytelling into our program. It is definitely about learning while enjoying the process!

Accessibility: We’ll do our best to help with transportation. We’ll ask about accessiblity needs in the application.

*The camp is free to attend, and lunch will be provided each day.
