Statewide Youth Gathering

We are so excited to announce that we will be hosting our first Statewide Youth Gathering in partnership with UP for Learning and the Vermont Student Anti-Racism Network!

Who: This gathering is for youth who are in racial justice, social justice, or BIPOC affinity space clubs. We have limited space, so we plan to have multiple rounds of registration in order to bring a representative group of youth together. Our first round of registration will allow for 5 youth and 2 adults from each club (multiple clubs from one school are welcome to register). We will open it up for larger groups if space allows! The first round of registration will not be for GSAs because we want to prioritize clubs that don’t already have a space to gather and GSAs can attend Outright’s GSA Conference in the fall.

When: Friday, April 11th (approximately 9am-3pm)

Where: Hulbert Outdoor Center in Fairlee, VT

Theme: A call to unity: the power of connections in activism

Conference Objectives:

  • Creating connection to unify Vermont social justice clubs

  • Sharing skills and resources for self-advocacy and making change in schools

  • Cultivating joy and energy for our work

  • Strengthening support systems and raising awareness

Accessibility: We will center accessibility. The space is wheelchair accessible. This will be a masked event. There will be a low sensory space. We’ll have food available for a range of dietary restrictions. We’ll ask about other accessibility needs in the registration form.

What To Expect:

  • Music, art, and fun

  • Youth-centered spaces

  • Affinity spaces for different identities

  • Spacious timing

  • Accessibility of space, language, food, childcare, and transportation

  • Youth and youth-adult led workshops

Cost: This is a free gathering for everyone who's school is unable to pay for them to attend. For groups that are able to pay to attend there is a suggested cost of $25 per person attending.
