BIPOC Summer Camp

Applications are now closed.

We are currently hiring for two positions for the camp: a certified lifeguard and on-call nurse/doctor. Read the full job descriptions here.

Join us for our first annual overnight BIPOC Summer Camp at the Common Ground Center in Starksboro! The Educators of Color Association has organized retreats for educators of color. They have been generative times for educators to connect, heal, and have fun. At each of these retreats, someone has mentioned how incredible it would be if we were to organize a summer camp for BIPOC students where they can connect, heal, and have fun with us. We’re finally organizing it!

Who: This camp is for youth who are:

  • Youth 12-18 years of age

  •  Identify as Black, Brown, Indigenous, or a person of color

What to expect: sleeping in cabins, art, music, swimming, nature, crafting, healing circles, connection, conversation, laughs, joy and learning about ourselves and each other

Cost: The camp will have a payment sliding scale of $25-$400. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. The true cost of camp is $1,000 per youth and this cost is subsidized by grants and donations.

Dates: This overnight camp is Friday, August 11th to Monday August 14th

How to Get Involved

Are you a BIPOC adult that wants to get involved? There are opportunities to join the planning committee, be a camp counselor, and join the camp for a couple of hours to lead an activity! Fill out this form to share how you want to get involved. Fill out this application by June 15th if you’re interested in being a camp counselor.

If you are white and want to support the camp, please consider donating money or supplies and help spread the word!

Support the camp by donating through mightycause. Help us reach our goal of $15,000 by July 15th!
