Join special guests Rhiannon Kim of Love at the Roots and Alex Shevrin Venet of Unconditional Learning for this timely offering to support teachers in the current political moment.
What:
How do we show up for our students in the midst of crisis and destabilization? What does it mean to be a trauma-informed teacher when the trauma is fresh and ongoing daily? And do you do any of it when you, too, are just trying to hold it together?
There are no magic strategies for this moment in history, but trauma-informed teaching provides some guidance. In this workshop, they'll talk about:
Your own wellbeing, sustaining your work, and navigating moral injury
Creating felt safety during unsafe times, in our classrooms and in our bodies
Balancing predictability and flexibility
Considerations for talking about/processing current events
And they'll leave a good chunk of time for Q&A/to talk together as a group
