Getting to the Root of Injustice: A Workshop for Change
Upper Valley of Vermont (location to be announced after registration)
Sunday, November 16th
10:00 am-3:30 pm
Event Description:
We are coming together for a day of experiential learning in order to strengthen our analysis and understanding of how to make change. In a time when it can feel like we are being attacked from all angles it is key to be grounded in the bigger picture of our vision of justice and how we move towards it. We will share activities that you can bring back and share with your school community.
This is also an opportunity to build relationships and connect with others doing education justice organizing work all throughout the state. There will be lunch groups on various topics including youth-led groups to connect in the work we are doing. Thanks to Spark Teacher Education Institute for leading event facilitation!
Who is this event for:
This is a youth-centered, multigenerational event. We especially encourage youth from racial justice, social justice, and affinity clubs or classes as well as their adult partners as this is an opportunity to connect with other youth statewide. We are also inviting partners from Vermont Students Against Racism, Vermont School Workers United, Outright Vermont, UP for Learning, and Vermont Educators Equity Collective to join us. In addition, EdJ Coalition Members, volunteers, work group members and members of the Vermont Educators of Color Association are also encouraged to come. This is not an open public event so please don’t share this invitation outside of specific networks mentioned. Here is a flyer you can use to share it with clubs and the groups listed above.
Logistics:
This is a free event with free lunch, snacks, and childcare provided. The space is wheelchair accessible.
