Youth Organizing Training Program

The Education Justice Coalition has partnered with Outright Vermont to train youth across the state in Youth Organizing. This is Outright’s fourth year leading this program and they invited EdJ youth and staff to join. Between EdJ and Outright, there is a cohort of 22 youth from all corners of the state including St. Johnsbury, Bennington, Rutland, and Newport.

Saturday was the first of five day-long training sessions spread throughout the school year. Youth came together on a Saturday (some of them driving three hours to Burlington!) to build relationships, share stories and ideas, and learn. We played connection games, ate together, and talked about the issues we’re seeing in schools. We dug into topics like intersectionality, consensus, adultism, consent, and our stake in collective liberation. We are so excited to see how this group grows, builds connections, and works to promote justice for all students in VT.
